BSNL GPRS settings for HTC One V with Android 4.0.3

I had been knocking my head from last two days looking for the GPRS setting for my new HTC OneV from BSNL. There is nothing on its portal, finally I had to reach the BSNL telephone exchange to get it and it seems they have that just now and is yet to be updated to their portal.

Here is how to set it up on your Android 4.0.3 device, for those who need it.

1. Tap on Settings to go to settings panel.
2. Tap Mobile network > Access Point Names.
3. On the APNs screen, tap  Menu  > New APN.
4. On the Edit access point screen, enter the APN settings. Tap an APN setting item to edit it.
For BSNL holders in East India the following setting will work which is BTW not available in the BSNL portal for HTC One V Android 4.0.3.

Name : BSNLNET
APN : bsnlnet
Proxy : not set
Port : not set
Username : not set
Password: not set
Server : not set
MMSC : not set
MMS proxy : not set
MMS port : not set
MCC : 404
MNC : 38
Authentication type : not set
APN type: default,hipri
APN enable/disable: APN enabled
Bearer : Unspecified

5. Tap Menu > Save.

And you are done happy browsing.

    1. Hi Sunny

You got to delete all your existing APN settings and then add this new setting.
One more point to note is this is only for HTC One V with Android Ice cream Sandwich.

Its working brilliantly for me even if I move around all over India.

      Cheers

    1. Hi

It looks like more of a call setting miss-management, you might want to check that out.

I am suspecting your "Use internet call" is wrongly set go to Settings>Call>Use Internet Call select "only for internet calls" that might solve this issue. Or may be your call is forwarded to a different phone, try recreating the issue by calling your One V while GPRS is being used from a different phone and see what happens.

I am not a guru in solving such problem, but I hope you can play around with your Call settings to solve this issue.

      All the best

    2. Hi Utpal
Thanks for your reply. I tried/ checked call settings its fine. As i tried with other Nokia set it was working fine with wap settings. One thing for sure, my set is working good with Airtel sim.

    1. Abir,

My guess is... it should work as its the same Android ICS OS.
If not you have to approach any of the BSNL GPRS account manager in those BSNL telephone offices and they can help you out with the APN settings.

    1. Try the same setting above it should work unless you have advanced OS like Jelly Bean, in that case best bet is to go to your nearest (BSNL) telephone exchange office and you can surely get it form there.
